Another couple outages

We've had some very bad luck this last week with the tower outage. Now we've had a couple slightly more isolated outages. A storm came through Friday and shut down the Orion radio transmitting into the Lake Alyson area. We could talk to the radio from the back but it wasn't transmitting radio signals. We tried resetting remotely but the radio stayed dead so we drove over and manually reset it. It came back up running as it should but we're looking into a better solution.

The second failure came Saturday to the lower half of Lake Alyson along 230th. As soon as we discovered the outage we called Matt (the homeowner hosting the relay) but he was out in the garage without his cell phone. I drove over and found him splicing wires in the garage. He'd turned off all the power to the house so that he could install a backup generator system and had forgotten to call us. After a more minutes his generator was wired up and the relay was back in service.

Replacement radios have been ordered for our north and south 5.8Ghz access points that have failed a few times over the last few months but we don't know how long it will take to get them. The manufacturer has implimented a new RMA system using email to replace the old system where we just called and told them what we needed and usually had it the next day. This new system is supposed to be better but we still don't have our replacement radios. As soon as they come in I'll post a message here and on the blogs to let users know when we'll be replacing them. We shouldn't be down too long.
